The building was extended in 2003 to provide a fully equipped Foundation classroom, with indoor and outdoor play areas. All of the building is on one level and has wheelchair access. The school has an inclusion policy and tries to accommodate the needs of all local children. Our school has a very warm and friendly atmosphere in which both children and staff work happily together enabling children to reach their full potential. A broad and balanced curriculum is taught including many extra curricular activities. During the school year special activity weeks are held e.g. Art, Science and sport. There is a network of computers throughout the school, with a computer and Interactive Whiteboards with Internet access available in each classroom. Regular sporting activities take place, including after school clubs. There is an “All weather Sports Area” which enables full curriculum access during bad weather. Individual instrumental lessons are available from a range of peripatetic music teachers. These include piano, guitar, violin, flute, drums and woodwind instruments. Collective Worship happens daily, to which everyone is warmly welcome. Our guidelines for behaviour are very clear and we have a commitment to encouraging Personal Social and Moral Education. We encourage a high degree of parental involvement and have an active School association. The school has strong links with the community. For further information please contact the school on the above telephone number or visit our website at www.duchy.devon.sch.uk |
